Pop duo the Cheeky Girls are back - and set to warm up a cold winter’s night in Doncaster when they come to town next month.
The Romanian twin sisters will be wiggling their bums into the newly revamped Flares on Hall Gate on December 4 - helping to raise a smile among the town’s pub and clubbing fraternity.
The duo - Gabriela and Monica Irimia - will be performing three songs on the night at the pub, formerly the White Bear, which is back in business after a huge refurbishment.
After appearing as auditionees in Popstars: The Rivals, they achieved success in the charts with four top ten hits between 2002 and 2004.
They are best known for their debut single, “Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)”, which has sold more than 1.2 million copies worldwide and is a party favourite.
Following two appearances on the show with their audition which had judges Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh not knowing what to say, various record companies approached the duo wanting to sign them up for a deal.
Cheeky Song was swiftly recorded and released and entered the chart at number two and the single remained in the top five for five consecutive weeks – four of them at number two.
This was quickly followed up with two more top three hits, Take Your Shoes Off and Hooray, Hooray! It’s a Cheeky Holiday!.
In January 2004, The Cheeky Song was voted the worst pop record of all time in a Channel 4 poll while in September 2009, the girls released their Cheeky Girls make-up range aimed at the young teen market.
