Capturing the wonder of nature in the Doncaster and Epworth district’s wildlife sites

It is an image of a wild pheasant in all its colourful glory captured in the wild.

The picture was taken by photographer Patrick Naughton, of Vinegarth in the town, and was seen by his keen eye at Potterric Carr.

Keen photographer Patrick said: “Please find attached a photo of a wild pheasant enjoying the springtime sunshine. This photograph was taken at the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Centre at Potteric Carr, which is near the Outlet shopping Centre in Doncaster.

“It was a great day at the time and as you are out and about you never know what you might see. During our travels to different places out and about we have seen such birds as Bitterns, Woodpeckers and Kingfishers in the recent past. There are quite a few walks marked out and quite a few ponds with about a dozen hides or so set aside for bird watching. There is a small charge for visiting this centre although other Yorkshire wildlife Trust sites are available free of charge.”
