Bosses at Yorkshire Caravans did all they could to encourage the pooches to don their glad-rags – and these obliging animals were the winners.

It was part of the company’s colourful Christmas fair.

Organiser and caravan park saleswoman Carol Shepard said more than 100 visitors made the event a huge success.

The free day not only included the best dressed dog competition, local traders with market stalls, Mayflower animal sanctuary with a tombola stall and raffle, blind dogs charity with a raffle and homemade gifts for sale and Olaf the snowman in fabulous fancy dress handing out sweets to children.

The day also included a reindeer hunt for the kids with a free Cadbury’s selection box on completion, face painting, children’s colouring corner, manicures and health and beauty products for sale, Frickley and South Elmsall brass band playing Christmas carols and a PA system with festive tunes whenever the band had an interval.

She added: “Seeing the dogs dressed up was great fun. I even entered my own dog Stuart, a border terrier.

“Even though there were prizes for the top three winners all dogs received a squeaky toy.”
