Air cadet from Crowle flying high with silver medal for sport

Following on from flying success at both Wing and Region levels, a Crowle air cadet has achieved a further award.

Cadet Alice Mason, 14, has just represented North Region in the Air Training Corps Athletics competition, achieving a Silver in her event.

She represented Crowle air Cadets at the South and West Yorkshire Wing Athletics competition. The event sees all 33 squadrons in South and West Yorkshire Wing, compete in numerous athletic disciplines.

During the event she attained gold in the 100 and 200 metre sprints and gold in the long jump. Her reward is selection for South and West Yorkshire Wing in the North Region competition.

The North Region competition sees the best athletes from the five Wings in the North of England compete.

Cadet Mason’s silver in the 100 metres sprint competition places her second in the Air Training Corps for her age group in the discipline.

A spokesman for the air cadets said it was a great achievement for both her and her squadron and he added: “Cadet Mason’s achievement is fantastic. To come second in the whole Air Training Corps is massive. The Squadron is really proud of her and look forward to next year’s competition. We hope she will do even better.

“Athletics and sport are just a few of the many opportunities Crowle Squadron offers to its members, both cadets and staff. Air Cadets is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17”.
