UK's coronavirus lockdown officially extended

The UK’s coronavirus lockdown has been officially extended today.

In the daily press briefing from Downing Street, Foreign Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab extended the lockdown for ‘at least’ three weeks.

He said the government was keen to avoid a second peak of Covid-19 and more deaths if lockdown rules were relaxed too early.

It means people will still only be allowed to leave their home for four reasons – shopping, essential travel to work, exercise and for medical supplies or appointments.
