People being asked to donate items for care packages for Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS staff staying at hospital accommodation

Kind-hearted residents in Doncaster and Worksop are being asked to purchase items like soap, deodorant, tea, coffee and biscuits if they want to show their appreciation for the heroic NHS staff during the coronavirus outbreak.

Hospital bosses at Doncaster & Bassetlaw are telling people if they would like to help, they can provide ‘care package items’ for those staff members who are staying in hospital accommodation during the period.

Through an Amazon Wishlist, desired items include, tea, coffee, milk sachets, sugar packets, bottled water, tissues, hand cream, shower gel, soap and deodarant.

Health chiefs said they had been ‘inundated with calls’ from residents asking how they could support NHS staff.

Just this week, hot beverage giant Costa donated 600 cans of coffee to help staff get through shifts.

Other kind acts include donations from schools across Doncaster and Worksop giving out goggles and disposable gloves from their respected science departments.

A spokesman for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said: “During Covid-19, Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals would like to provide our colleagues who may have to stay unexpectedly in hospital accommodation with a 'Care Package' which will consist of essential toiletry items and snacks.

“This list is not exhaustive, but we have listed the items we think would be most beneficial for colleagues. We have two hospital sites items can be delivered to which include Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop.”
