Doncaster school girl makes PPE face masks for local NHS workers

A Doncaster school girl has helped make dozens of face visors for NHS staff fighting coronavirus.

Chelsea Owen. a Year 10 pupil at Hatfield’s Ash Hill Academy, joined forces with the school’s engineering specialist to create the visors, which have now been donated to the NHS.

A school spokesman said: “Having heard about other schools who had manufactured Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Kevin Downing, Ash Hill's engineering specialist set about making visors to be donated to the NHS.

“He was ably assisted by Year 10 student, Chelsea Owen.”

The initial batch of 40 visors were collected by a representative of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and a further set will be donated later this week.

Last week, it was revealed how a teacher at Edenthorpe’s Hungerhill School had also been making face masks for the NHS during lockdown.

And local 3D printing companies in Doncaster have also been producing PPE.
