Alhannah Butler, aged 25, from Armthorpe, decided that she wanted to help her local community by gathering supplies for the vulnerable people who live in Armthorpe and may not be able to get to resources due to people overstocking on essentials.

She said: “I have a four-year-old son and the biggest lesson that I want to teach him in life is to be kind.

“I’m a massive over thinker and I was laid in bed thinking about how I’m struggling to get basic supplies.

“You can see it all over Facebook at the moment with people panic buying all the toilet paper.

“I just thought I have a car so I can go out and get supplies for people that can’t.”

Alhannah and her son, Lincoln went shopping and collected toilet rolls, tissues, soap, cough sweets, tea, pasta and other goods which they then bagged up into care packages.

She will be distributing them to vulnerable and elderly people in her neighbourhood.

“I was supposed to be going on holiday this year but that will likely not happen so I took a few hundred pounds that I had saved for spending money and used it to buy the supplies,” she continued.

“I can’t do this on my own so I’m also asking for donations - I have a studio outside my home which I sanitise every time someone comes to drop off food so it’s perfectly safe to donate.”

The care packages are free of charge and Alhannah will try to get them to as many people as possible.

Alhannah said: “This situation is only going to get worse and we need to be kind - as long as I have the means to put together these care packages I will…in a world where you can be anything you should be being kind.”
