Doncaster hospital bosses issue plea over 'VERY busy' emergency department

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, said today, Monday, January 4, shortly after 5pm: “Our Emergency Department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary is currently VERY busy.

"If you do not need urgent care and treatment, please consider alternative services such as your local practice, the Same Day Health Centre, the Minor Injuries Unit, your local pharmacy or ring NHS 111 for advice. Help us keep this service clear for those that need it most.”

The trust had earlier posted a message on Facebook advising people that the first Monday in the new year was traditionally a very busy day for its emergency departments.

In its last coronavirus update, issued on Thursday, December 31, the trust said it was caring for 123 patients with Covid-19 across its hospitals, including 10 who required intensive care.
