Zero Covid patients in Doncaster hospital's respiratory unit, bosses announce

Bosses at a Doncaster hospital have marked a major milestone – by announcing there are zero coronavirus patients in its respiratory unit.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust made the announcement yesterday regarding the number of patients receiving treatment for Covid-19 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman said: “Say it ever so quietly, however, as of the time of writing, there are zero patients with COVID-19 in the Respiratory Unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary – this is the area that has cared for the majority of those affected with the illness.

"We don’t know how long this period of respite will last, but for this evening, let’s enjoy the moment.

The number of Covid patients in DRI's respiratory unit has dropped to zero.

"Keep up the good work all, hands, face and space and put your arm forward when called for the jab.”

Last week, the number of patients being treated for Covid at Doncaster’s hospitals dropped to four, the lowest since September.
