Two more coronavirus patients die at Doncaster hospitals trust, as South Yorkshire death toll rises to 148

The coronavirus death toll at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals has risen by two to 28.

A total of 148 patients who were being treated for COVID-19 have now died at hospitals across South Yorkshire, according to the latest figures published this afternoon by NHS England.

In Sheffield, another six deaths were confirmed, taking the total to 71; in Rotherham the death toll rose by four to 18; and in Barnsley another four patients died to take the tally there to 31.

The latest deaths were all confirmed in the 24 hours up to 5pm yesterday, though because of how the figures are collated some of the patients may have died before that period.

The latest two deaths confirmed at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals – which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop and Montagu Hospital in Mexborough – happened on Sunday and Monday.

Across England, another 765 deaths were confirmed, taking the total to 7,248.
