South Yorkshire Covid death toll rises as nine more die in Sheffield

A further 13 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in South Yorkshire, the latest NHS figures have shown.

Nine more people who tested positive for the virus have died in Sheffield’s hospitals, according to the most recent data, bringing the total Covid-19 related fatalities in the city to 575.

No further deaths were recorded in Doncaster, where the death toll stands at 545.

In Rotherham there were two additional deaths, taking the total to 417 and in Barnsley there have now been 408 deaths, after two more were also recorded in the town.

A further 231 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 48,542.

Patients were aged between 30 and 103 years old. All except five (aged 36 to 85 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 9 December to 26 December 2020 with the majority being on or after 24 December.
