Nine more coronavirus-related deaths recorded in Doncaster

The latest fatalities mean there have now been 292 Covid-19 deaths at the trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital, since the pandemic hit.

Across South Yorkshire, a further two coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Sheffield, while one more fatality has been recorded in both Barnsley and Rotherham. The region’s death toll from the virus topped 1,000 earlier this week.

Nationally, a further 192 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 32,484.

The patients were aged between 27 and 101 years old. All except one, aged 63, had known underlying health conditions.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust is currently caring for more than 200 patients at its three Doncaster area hospitals.

The number in the middle of last month was just three.
