Dad Wayne said: “Despite many hours trying to secure one we were unsuccessful so I put out a help request.

“We were inundated with kind offers of lending cars from friends, inexpensive sales from people wanting to help and several private garages wanting to pull all the stops out.

“We were overwhelmed with the kindness and really humbled by our good friends and my wider ex-policing colleagues.

“I was messaged by Nick Doyle who I worked with many moons ago at Notting Hill police station

“He said one of his ex-military colleagues had seen the post and wanted to help. This person wants to remain nameless.

“He also had a friend who sells cars - Stuart McCall in Shropshire - so within 24 hours without any further discussion Stuart was sent funds to secure the car

“We have never met this person or even conversed on message.

“Stuart then arranged for the car to be MOT'd valeted and serviced and collected by Ellie.

“A massive thanks to all especially Stuart and Nick and Nick’s old friend. At times like these it just shows how generous people can be.”
