Eight more die after testing positive for Covid in South Yorkshire hospitals

A further eight coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in South Yorkshire hospitals, according to the latest data released today (February 24).

This is a fall of 50 per cent since the day before, when 16 were reported dead in the county’s hospitals.

The largest death toll yesterday was in Doncaster, where six more people died after testing positive. The toal number of deaths there is now 726.

In Sheffield no more died, meaning the total number of deaths at hospitals in the city remains at 877.

In Rotherham there were also no more deaths, meaning the total stays at 556.

In Barnsley two more people died, and the total death toll is now 584.

Nationwide a further 302 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 82,156.

Patients were aged between 32 and 103 years old. All except 14 (aged 32 to 91 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
