Doncaster on the verge of 100 coronavirus deaths after latest increase

A further three people who tested positive for coronavirus in the Doncaster area have died, the latest data from NHS England confirmed.

The number of Covid-19 deaths registered by Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust now stands at 98, with 472 confirmed cases of the disease. Once accounting for deaths which have occured in care homes, the number of confirmed deaths is likely to be higher.

The families of those who have died have been informed.

Nationally, a further 370 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 20,853.

Across South Yorkshire, seven more hospital deaths have been recorded hospitals in Sheffield, bringing the total number of fatalities there to 209. In Barnsley, 84 hospital deaths have now been recorded, an increase of 4 from yesterday. No new hospital deaths have been recorded in Rotherham since Friday.
