Across the UK there have been 8,396 new cases reported since Sunday, with 2,460 reported on Tuesday (8 September). Tighter coronavirus restrictions have also been introduced in Bolton, which was already under stricter measures.

A spokesperson for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said a rise in cases nationally is not ‘currently correlating with hospital admissions’ in Doncaster.

On Tuesday the trust announced that no cases have been confirmed at any of its sites “for almost three weeks’”.

A spokesperson said: “We know, however, this could change quickly. Please continue doing what you're doing and ensure infection is low in the local area - wear a face covering when appropriate, wash your hands regularly, and try to maintain social distancing wherever possible.

"We've gained significant ground in our fight against Covid-19, let's keep it.”
