Doncaster Royal Infirmary coronavirus deaths reach grim milestone

More than 200 people have now died from coronavirus at Doncaster Royal Infirmary after a further four deaths were confirmed in South Yorkshire.

The latest figures from NHS England show a further three patients at the hospital who tested positive for coronavirus have died, taking the total number of fatalities to 202. This figure does not include deaths in the community.

One fatality was also recorded by Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and announced on Wednesday.

Two hundred and thirty-seven coronavirus patients being treated by Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust have died since the pandemic hit, including 35 at Bassetlaw Hospital.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson said: “Today we have admitted a further five individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing our overall total to 38.

"The breakdown of this is 37 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and one at Bassetlaw Hospital. Four patients currently require intensive care, and we wish them the very best in their recovery.”
