Doncaster hospital trust records first coronavirus deaths in more than one month

A further two coronavirus patients at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals have died – the first deaths recorded by the Trust in six weeks.

NHS England said the deaths were recorded on Sunday (20 September) and Monday (21 September). August 4 was the last time a death was recorded at the Trust, which manages Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital.

To date, 234 deaths have been recorded by the Trust.

On Tuesday the Trust announced there were eight coronavirus patients being treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and one at Bassetlaw Hospital. None of them require ventilation.

A spokesperson said: “In context to earlier this year, our numbers still remain low, and we hope this continues, and colleagues are still working tirelessly to increase capacity and work through the back-log created by this disease.
