Doncaster coronavirus death toll nears 200 as new figures announced

198 people have now died after testing positive for COVID-19, up from yesterday’s figure of 192.
The number in Doncaster had remained static since Saturday – but there is often a delay on reporting and recording statistics from across the weekend.

Hide AdYesterday, the Government said the number of deaths – 55 – was the lowest since before lockdown began.
It was the lowest daily total since March 22.
Earlier today, NHS England announced a further 129 people had died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number in England to 27,618.
Those who died included two aged between 20 and 39, two between 40 and 59, 38 between 60 and 79 and the remaining 87 were aged 80 or above.
Locally, there have been 277 deaths in Sheffield, 178 in Rotherham and 130 in Barnsley.

Hide AdThe figures relate to deaths within hospitals run by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This includes Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital and Bassetlaw Hospital at Worksop.
More than 300 patients treated for coronavirus across the Trust have been allowed home after receiving treatment.
The UK has seen more than 40,000 deaths, only the second country in the world after the USA to reach the grim milestone.
Brazil has now surpassed Italy as the third worst country in the world for deaths with more than 37,000 fatalities.
