Partsight - a national charity based in Doncaster, have pledged continued support to their clients throughout the coronavirus outbreak. They are also urging members of the public to help those who are suffering with sight loss in any way they can.

Traditionally, the charity would provide support to their clients by running activity centres where they would set up meetings, hold one to one assessments and carry out sight tests.

With the coronavirus outbreak reaching critical point, the charity can no longer carry out personal assessments and have had to halt any appointments at the activity centres with immediate effect.

Chief Executive Officer Anita Plant, said: “Although we are no longer open for one to one assessments or sight tests and have postponed our support and activity groups, it is important to stay in touch at this time.

“At the Partially Sighted Society, the health and well-being of our community is extremely important to us. Therefore, we are here to provide telephone information and support over the phone and online.

“The majority of people living with sight loss are also in the 70+ age group and this is a particularly scary time for them. We would therefore like to reiterate that although we are not physically open at the moment, we will continue to be here for anyone at the end of the phone.

“We can provide further information about community initiatives, so get in touch because we can also signpost to other organisations should the need to arise.”
