Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals discharges 500th patient

On Sunday (13 September), a spokesperson for the trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Worksop’s Bassetlaw Hospital and Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital, said patient number 500 left hospital this weekend.

They said: “Please remember to stay safe, responsible and help us keep infection rates low locally. Have a good Sunday everyone.”

It comes as the number of positive cases continue to rise nationally. On Wednesday, Dan Jarvis, Sheffield City Region mayor, said the Covid-19 infection rate has at least doubled in every local authority area in South Yorkshire since last week.

That same day Doncaster Royal Infirmary admitted its first Covid-19 positive patient in three weeks. More than 250 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Doncaster since the pandemic hit.

A new Government-commissioned study has also revealed Yorkshire and the Humber currently has the highest infection rate in the country.
