Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals discharge 2,000th Covid patient

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust announced it had reached the milestone today, Monday, February 8.

"Amazing work from Team DBTH - it has been a challenging 12 months, keep your spirits up and look to the positives,” it said.

People have been quick to praise staff at the trust.

One woman wrote: “Amazing… you looked after my husband… he came home yesterday… you're caring for my dad… hope he's back with us soon too.”

Another person commented: “A massive congratulations to both staff and patients for this amazing milestone.

And a third said: “True Heroes. We are forever in debt. Thank you. Stay safe.”

Since the pandemic began, 19,502 people in Doncaster and 6,842 people in Bassetlaw have tested positive for coronavirus.

In Doncaster, 755 people have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test, while in Bassetlaw there have been 201 deaths.
