Coronavirus: Two more people die in South Yorkshire after testing positive for COVID-19

Two people in Barnsley have died after testing positive for coronavirus, NHS England confirmed today (March 28).

These are the first deaths related to COVID-19 in Barnsley, which, according to the latest figures released yesterday, had 42 confirmed cases of the disease.

This comes as it was announced that a further 246 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died since yesterday, bringing the total number in England to 935.

All patients were aged between 33 and 100 years old and all but 13 patients (who were all aged between 63 and 99 years old) had underlying health conditions.

In the UK 1,019 patients have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Friday, the Department of Health said, up from 759 the day before.

In Sheffield 10 people died after testing positive. In Rotherham one person has died, and in Doncaster two people have died. These took place before yesterday.
