Pictures show empty shelves at shops ranging from the big Asda at Lakeside, to the Boots store in the town centre, where hand wash had run out despite a limit on how much each shopper could buy. Products from beer to baby milk were running short.
British food retailers have urged customer to shop considerately and refrain from panic-buying amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
