Coronavirus: These are the new hospital visiting rules for Doncaster and Bassetlaw

Bosses have introduced a series of guidelines for people wanting to visit patients in the region’s hospitals.

The rules are in place and will apply until further notice.

Visitors should not come to the hospital if they are:

Unwell, especially if they have a high temperature or a new, persistent cough

Vulnerable as a result of their medication, a chronic illness or they are over 70 years of age.

Adult inpatient wards:

Visitors are restricted to one per patient (unless the patient is receiving end-of-life care or the visitor needs to be accompanied. Accompanying visitors should not stay in inpatient, ward or communal areas)

Must be immediate family or a carer

Restricted to the hours of 6pm to 7pm

To protect vulnerable patients, there are two areas of Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Chatsfield Suite and Ward 18, which will have stricter visiting rules.

No children under 16 should be visiting without the ward sister or charge nurse’s prior permission.

Neonatal units: Visiting will be restricted to parents only

Maternity wards, labour wards, antenatal clinics and antenatal assessment units:One named person/birth partner and no visitors under the age of 16.

Children’s Wards and Observation UnitsLimited to two people. Siblings may visit but must be approved by the nurse in charge first.
