Coronavirus: 18 more deaths across South Yorkshire as county dodges Tier 4

A total of 18 more coronavirus patients have died across South Yorkshire, with the Sheffield death toll now pushing 600.

Six more people who tested positive for the virus have died in Sheffield’s hospitals, according to the most recent data released today (December 30), bringing the total Covid-19 related fatalities in the city to 595.

Six further deaths was recorded in Doncaster, where the death toll stands at 554, and in Barnsley there have now been 416 deaths after six more were recorded.

There have been no further coronavirus-related fatalities in Rotherham, where 422 people have died.

Nationwide a further 494 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 49,719.

Patients were aged between 30 and 100. All except 20, aged between 36 and 92, had underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between November 9 and December 29. There were 23 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
