29-year-old among 127 Doncaster hospital patients being treated for Covid

A 29-year-old is among the 127 people currently being treated in Doncaster’s hospitals for coronavirus, health bosses have said.

In its weekly update on the Covid situation in the town, Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust said that 15 of those patients were in intensive care.

A spokesman for the trust said: “As of today, we have 127 patients with us receiving care for Covid-19.

"That's 99 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, 24 at Bassetlaw in Worksop and four at Mexborough Montagu Hospital. This represents a very small decrease since last week - however, we will take good news where we can find it.

“Of these patients, 15 currently require intensive care and we wish them our very best. Overall, the age range of those with us is between 29 and 96.

“Colleagues continue to work tirelessly for our patients, and we are buoyed by your support.

"In Doncaster, we have vaccinated the majority of those over 80, within care homes as well as front-line health and social care workers.

There have been 643 deaths in Doncaster since the start of the pandemic, with more than 1,500 people successfully treated, while 20,000 people have so far been vaccinated.
