12 more die in South Yorkshire as COVID death toll continues to rise

Another 12 hospital patients across South Yorkshire have died after testing postive for Covid-19, as the death toll approaches 1,600.

The latest coronavirus deaths were all announced by NHS England this afternoon, Tuesday, December 1.

There were Six more hospital deaths in Rotherham, taking the total there and 338 respectively; and another three in Sheffield and Barnsley, bringing the death tolls there to 484 and 315 respectively.

In Doncaster one more person died, meaning the total there now stands at 446.

Across South Yorkshire, a total of 1,583 people have now died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

Across England further 350 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 40,938.

71 of these were in the North East and Yorkshire.

Patients were aged between 31 and 98 years old. All except nine (aged 44 to 92 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
