The group Brighter Days was set up by Conisbrough woman Emily Frost in July.

She is passionate about helping others with their mental health and started the group as a response to the first lockdown, using the group as a way to connect people and encourage open discussion.

Emily, 24, said: “It’s our mission to help and support as many people as we can.

“We’re hoping to set up a volunteer friend programme which will connect those in need with people who are able to support.

“For one hour a week we want the volunteers to help deliver food shopping and socialise with the elderly and those with health struggles in the community.”

Her services are open to anyone in Doncaster.

If a second lockdown is imposed and tighter restrictions are applied in Doncaster then Emily said that many of the group's services will become virtual.

Covid-19 has meant a lot more people have suffered from mental health issues,” Emily said.

“The stories that I hear on a daily basis are unbelievable, so many people are suffering.”

World Mental Health Day was marked on October 10 and the Brighter Days group walked 13 miles to raise money for mental health charities.

“It was challenging to walk 13 miles but it went really well and we hope that we got people thinking about mental health,” Emily said.
