Calling North Lincolnshire businesses '“ take part in the pedometer challenge
North Lincolnshire Council and British Steel have teamed up to hold the North Lincolnshire workplace charity pedometer challenge, Challenge 10,000, throughout October to help improve health and wellbeing.
The challenge starts on 1 October and ends on 31 October at midnight.
The challenge aims to encourage people to walk up to 10,000 steps a day as a means to help improve health and wellbeing, with businesses and employees from across North Lincolnshire all encouraged to take part.
To take part all you have to do is get into a team of four (with your colleagues from same organisation) and individually aim to walk 10,000 steps daily (or more), or to increase your daily step count as much as possible during October.
All money raised throughout the challenge will be donated to Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Get a team of colleagues together and step up for charity. To request an entry form and application pack, get your team captain to email [email protected] or contact Paul Cowling on 07736899378.
To enter, each team will be asked to make a minimum donation of £20 to Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
There will be prizes and rewards up for grabs at the end of the challenge, so put your best foot forward and up your step count during October.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for Adults and Health, said: “Our health and wellbeing is extremely important, and is something we should all look after. Challenge 10,000 aims to ignite some healthy competition between workplaces and colleagues to try improve peoples’ health and fitness.
“Walking can easily fit into everyday activities, whether it is a 10 minute walk in your lunch break or walking your children to school, it all makes a difference.
“I would encourage all North Lincolnshire workplaces to get on board with this challenge and experience all the benefits of walking regularly. Including reducing the risk of chronic illnesses and improvements to mood and wellbeing, makes you feel fitter, healthier and happier, as well as helping to maintain a healthy weight.”
Lindsey Lodge Hospice Corporate Fundraiser, Andy Hirst, said: “On behalf of Lindsey Lodge Hospice I’d like to say thank you to North Lincolnshire Council and British Steel for launching this fantastic initiative.
“Our Hospice has been providing high quality, compassionate care for over 25 years in North Lincolnshire.”
