School’s strong community links

Pupils at a Mexborough infants’ school have become highly visible thanks to their growing links with a local manufacturing company.

All 120 children in Pitt Street Infants’ School have reflective arm bands to wear, thanks to radiator manufacturer Stelrad, who provided them ahead of the darker months of the year.

The firm is supporting the school in its bid to buy a defibrillator for the community, and some employees joined in a recent coffee morning at the school. Neil Land of Stelrad said: “We will be looking for other ways to support the school inthe months ahead.”

Headteacher Pam Belnavis said: “We are grateful for the support we have had from Stelrad – it’s a perfect partnership with a major local employer and we hope we will be able to build on the connection we have made with the company in the months and years ahead.

“The ‘high vis’ armbands will help our children in the darker times of the year and the donation towards our fund raising exploits for the defibrillator is really welcome.”

A clutch of Stelrad employees are undertaking this year’s Three Peaks Challenge, after which it is intended a further donation will be made to the school’s fundraising efforts.
