The sixth form college for 16 to 19-year-olds has sponsored the new U14, U16 and U18 leagues which started last month.

Leon Riley, principal designate for New College Doncaster, said; “We are pleased to be able to sponsor the three U18 football leagues.

“Team sports are a great extra-curricular activity for students and teach them so much more than just the sport itself.

“The fitness, discipline and team work approach helps students to develop in many ways.”

With the first game free, free training pitches and FA affiliated referees, the Goals leagues offer a great opportunity for teams to pitch their skills against others.

Rich Sheldon, assistant manager at Goals, said: “We are delighted that New College Doncaster have come on board as league sponsors for our new U14, U16 and U18s leagues.

“This new partnership is a perfect fit as we expect lots of student teams to sign up to take part and be crowned the champions of Doncaster.”

New College Doncaster will be the town’s only sixth form college for 16 to 19-year-olds, and is already proving a popular idea amongst students.

The sixth form college will be built in Auckley on the playing fields adjacent to Hayfield Lane and will include a sports hall and a series of sports pitches, with a construction value of around £20 million.

The college will open to 500 students in September 2017, who will be studying in purpose built dynamic centre for post-16 learning, achievement, aspiration and progression.

The New Collaborative Learning Trust, the trust behind the college, presently operates New College Pontefract, judged Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.
