Pupils at Carcroft Primary School took part in a joint project with Greentop Primary and the XP Schools Trust to design and create cards with a message of ‘hope’ for their local community.
Children from years three, four, five and six created artwork and poetry based on the question 'What hope have we got?’

The product was a series of greetings cards, which the children have now delivered to the China Cottage Care Home in Carcroft, as a message and greeting to the residents and staff there.
The school described it as its first ‘learning expedition’ – a type of project to teach skills, which XP Trust bases its teaching on.
Carcroft teacher Stuart Longley said: “They have thought about how this current situation has similarities with the World War and related this to current times.”

They did not get to meet the pupils in person because of lockdown, but came to the windows to wave at the youngsters dropping them off at the end of their project.
Staff member Kim Jobes said: “Residents loved the cards – they have definitely cheered everyone up.”
