Pupils from Holy Family Catholic Primary School, in Stainforth, created hundreds of home made poppies as a project to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, because they were unable to take their usual trip to join the remembrance event at Stainforth war memorial this year.
And the result was a cascade of red poppies that stretched across the frontage of the school, on Kirton Lane, which is going to be on display for the rest of the month.

Hide AdAssistant headteacher Rebecca Hodby said: “All the children have made their own poppies at home as a home project, and on top of that, we have been making them in class.
“Using those poppies that have been made, the staff here have created displays all over the school.
"We couldn’t do what we usually do this year, so we did this for the community so that the children could go outside the school and do their remembrance here, with the two minute silence that they would usually do at the memorial.”
Poppies were made using items from painted chocolate containers and parts of plastic bottles to coloured tissue paper.

"They’re all over the school,” said Miss Hodby. We’re going to leave most of them up until December, although we’ll have to take down a net we created outside the main entrance because of the weather.
"I really think the children have done a fantastic job.”
