Jenna Hutton from Skellow has loved handwriting since she was a child but it wasn’t until 2018 that she started to learn calligraphy.

She said: “Before my wedding, I kept seeing gorgeous invites online but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted.

Jenna now owns her own calligraphy business named Fawkes Quill, she sells handwritten invites, cards and place settings.

“I love writing with pen and ink, it has taken me around two years to develop my own style but now it feels like second nature,” she said.

“Calligraphy is therapeutic and satisfying and I love how personal it makes invites and cards.”

She said: “I have been significantly affected but lucky my main job is in accounting and I have been able to work from home.

“There have been far fewer sales on my Etsy shop as people look for products like mine in the months before their weddings and sadly no one is able to get married.

“There has been an increase in home celebrations - this week I had a lady order place cards for a birthday tea party for her daughter.

People still want to make things special and add an extra touch even if it is at home.”

As well as place cards and invites Jenna also sells calligraphy envelopes which can be used to send a special letter to someone you have not been able to see during lockdown.

She also creates digital prints for interior design.

Jenna is open for similar commissions through her social media if people are interested in ordering personalised attire for home events.
