Financial support will be available to pubs and bars (except those which sell substantial meals and can therefore remain open) betting shops, casinos, adult gaming centres and soft play centres following South Yorkshire's move into Tier 3 restrictions on October 24.

Doncaster Chamber bosses said the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) for eligible businesses is now available on the council’s website.

LRSG payments will be available to eligible business premises, dependent upon their rateable value, for each two-week period of closure following the start of the localised restrictions.

The level of grant is set for every two weeks of closure at £667 for premises with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, £1,000 for those with a rateable value between £15,001 and less than £51,000 and at £1,500 for those with a rateable value of greater than £51,000.

Eligibility criteria for the scheme has been set by Government.

Coun Bill Mordue, Doncaster Council’s cabinet member for business, skills and economic development, said: “This grant will help businesses which have been forced to close as a result of the latest local lockdown restrictions.

“If you run a business and think you qualify then I urge you to get in touch with the council and get the support you need.”

Andy Hibbitt, Doncaster Chamber’s chief operating officer, said: “Now the details around this grant have been announced, it is so important that affected businesses get in touch with the council and apply.

“Whilst this grant is welcome support for businesses who have been forced to close, it isn’t enough on its own. We expect details on further support for businesses – including those who have not been forced to close but have been adversely affected – over the coming week.”
