“I love what I do, it brings smiles to people’s faces when they see the final portrait of their pet,” said Mollie Browne, a pet portrait artist from Scawsby.

“There is something special about having their loved one drawn and the feedback I get is always positive.”

Prior to the coronavirus Mollie worked in a pub but as this has shut down due to the virus she has had more time to dedicate to her art and says business is thriving.

She said: “It’s really important that we all support small businesses at the moment.

“Now more than ever they are crumbling and they need money from local people to survive this.

“As a small business owner myself I make sure to support others by buying my supplies from them.”

Mollie has not always focused on pets but found that more and more people were commissioning her to draw their furry friends.

This led her to the decision to launch a business specifically around drawing man’s best friend.

Mollie has had a passion for art since she was a child but wasn’t always sure that it would become a career.

“I never knew what I wanted to do growing up, I was told to go to sixth form and then university and that the art industry would have limited jobs,” she continued.

“But I stuck to my passion and now I’m studying art at Doncaster College and I have a pet portrait business.

“I want to encourage others who don’t know what life path to take to just take a breather.

“You can follow your dreams, you don’t have to go to university if you don’t want to.”
