Owner of the cafe, Rachel Savage, said: “The hospital has been struggling with fundraising lately because a lot of it came from large events and group activities which have obviously been cancelled due to Covid-19.

“A lot of our customers have had treatment at the hospital both children and adults when they were younger.

“They always tell us how friendly and supportive it is there and look back at their time there fondly which can’t be said for many hospitals.”

Rachel said: “I’m planning on working the entire 24-hour shift and we have already had 13 customers sign up to say that they will do the whole marathon with us too.

“We’re really looking forward to the commadre that’s going to be here during the event.

“And taking bets on how much energy drink we’re going to need to stay up the whole time.”
