A popular Doncaster pub and restaurant has shut down after customers tested positive for Covid-19.

Carvery restaurant and bar Uncle Tom’s has closed with immediate effect, stating that customers may have contracted coronavirus in the venue’s bar area.

Announcing the closure on Facebook, a spokesman said: “Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 within the area, we have decided to close with immediate effect for a minimum of 14 days.

"Within the last two days, we have been informed of customers who have tested positive for the virus, potentially within our bar area.

"Any customers who visited the club on Saturday October 3, we would strongly advise getting a test.

"We are extremely sorry to have to do this but we feel its the only way to stem the outbreak within the premises.”

The club, in Lodge Road, Carcroft, also describes itself as a sports bar and is known locally for its grills and steaks.
