And the 10 pin bowling centre run by the same organisation will be back open tomorrow, bosses have confirmed this morning, following a Government announcement last night.

Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT), which runs both, will be reopening its KingPin Bowling Alley at Adwick Leisure Complex tomorrow and the Ice Caps ice rink at Doncaster Dome from Monday.

They had originally been planned to open at the same time as swimming pools.

Michael Hart, chief executive of DCLT said: “This is another step in the phased reopening of our venues and activities. We know how disappointed many of our customers were when we were told that ice skating and bowling were not allowed to reopen at that point

“We are really looking forward to welcoming people back to the two venues to enjoy bowling and skating again.

“As with all of our activities booking online will be necessary and we’ve put in place a number of measures to make sure that people feel safe and comfortable in visiting our venues.”

The measures include:

• Reduced capacity to observe social distancing measures

• Different entrance and exit points to the building

• Enhanced cleaning and hygiene schedules

• Contactless payment at catering outlets preferred

• No entrance to site without a booking

Mr Hart added: “We are also asking all customers to ensure that they follow the government guidance regarding hand washing, social distancing and reminding them that if they are experiencing any of the symptoms associated with coronavirus – temperature, persistent cough, loss of smell or taste – not to visit our venues and to stay at home.

“A huge thank you to our staff who have worked extremely hard to implement the necessary changes and to customers who have visited our gyms and pools so far for their understanding and for respecting the measures in place.”

The trust reopened a number of its swimming pools, including the Dome at Bawtry Road, at the start of August, again with customers required to pre-book.
