Delicious gin celebrates Doncaster’s heritage and is made with local botanicals

A duo have created a gin that’s made from home town botanicals and is all about Doncaster’s heritage.

Danvm Dry Gin has been a project in the making for four years.

Carl Lindley and Paul Stillings wanted to create a home grown artisan gin that represented Doncaster

Carl, 43, from Rossington, said: “We use water from a mineral spring here in Doncaster.

“As well as lavender and honey sourced from within the town.“It was important to us to use Doncaster botanicals to make the gin.

“We’re distilling it within Yorkshire too.”

It took the duu three attempts to get the recipe right but once they did Carl said it’s top notch.

And he’s not the only one who thinks so.

In just 48 hours of the gin being available to buy it sold out.

They are currently working on batch two which will be available in the next few weeks.

The gin itself is 42 per cent and in the style of a London Dry Gin.

“Artisan gin became really popular in 2016,” he continued.

“I looked around and couldn’t find any made here in Doncaster so I started thinking maybe I could make one.

“For us it’s all about Doncaster that’s why we named the gin Danvm.

“The label has lots of information about Doncaster’s history and heritage.

“From Romans to coal miners - we’re both from Doncaster and really care about the town.

“We have such a rich history here including the locomotives and the Butterscotch industry and of course the horse races.

"It’s important to us that history is preserved.”

Paul and Carl are ex colleagues and friends but came together over their love of gin.

Carl recently opened The Badger shop as part of Yorkshire Wildlife’s Park new hive - he will sell Danvm Dry Gin there.

“I recommend that the gin is drunk with premium or light tonic with grapefruit peel as a garnish,” Carl said.

“The feedback so far has been really positive, we’re really humbled.”

They have plans in the future to release new flavours of gin - all with links to Doncaster heritage.
