A Northern Belle spokesman said: “Unfortunately the Coronavirus and the lockdown have derailed our plans to run the Christmas Lunch special train from Doncaster on December 2.

“But we will be back on track on Sunday,.December 6, instead, We apologise for this inconvenience which was beyond our control and are contacting all passengers about the rescheduling.

“Hopefully most will still be able to travel on the Sunday. But we will compensate those who can’t with a voucher to the value of their booking plus £100 to travel on any of our luxury trains next year.”Passengers could find themselves sitting in the same seat once used by the Queen as one of the 1930s Pullman-style carriages used to be part of the Royal Train.

David Pitts, who owns the Northern Belle, said: “This promises to be a cracker of a trip and just the job to get everybody in the Christmas spirit.”
