Yorkshire Schools Clay Shooting Challenge 2014 - winner announced

Park Lodge Shooting School’s inaugural Yorkshire Schools Clay Shooting Challenge has been won by Chris Holt from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, who was named ‘high gun’ with a score of 48 out of 50.

Park Lodge Shooting Schools inaugural Yorkshire Schools Clay Shooting Challenge, held on 19th September, has been won by Chris Holt from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield, who was named high gun with a score of 48 out of 50.

The challenge, which was open to both individuals and teams of novice and semi experienced shooters from year nine upwards, had 18 entries from schools around the region.

The event was sponsored by shotgun cartridge manufacturer Lyalvale Express, who provided the Winner’s Prize of a cartridge bag and 250 cartridges.

During the event the competition entrants also had the pleasure of meeting Caroline Povey, who was shooting at Park Lodge.

Caroline is the Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist, England and Great Britain Olympic Trap clay shooter and four times UK Champion. Caroline kindly presented the award to Chris Holt at the end of the competition.

Tom Bayston, proprietor of Park Lodge Shooting School based in West Cowick said: “We were delighted that this inaugural event was so well supported and I would like to congratulate Chris on his fantastic win.

“All the entrants had an enjoyable day, and meeting Caroline was an extra treat!
