Childhood memories will come flooding back for those who visit ‘Common Ground’ in Doncaster from today.

Common Ground is an exhibition at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery that brings together the work of two artists who have worked to evoke powerful reminders of the past.

Donna Bramall and Jungle have filled the gallery with playful and thought-provoking artefacts, designed to bring old and forgotten items in to the present day.

Items they have included range from a fairground ride, a Raleigh Chopper bicycle made from concrete and even a crazy golf course!

Both artists use found objects, recycled waste products and everyday building materials to rediscover bygone times, reflecting on how they have shaped their adult lives; the resulting collaboration is one of the most eclectic mixes of work to be seen in the gallery for many years.

Cabinet member for Tourism, Coun Bob Johnson said: “The ‘Common Ground’ exhibition is a really exciting and interesting chance for the people of Doncaster to take a look back in time, and see their childhood memories, in many cases, come to the present day. The artists behind this exhibition are from very different backgrounds, but have joined together with fascinating results.”

Donna Bramall, who was the winner of the 2010 Open Art exhibition at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery sees her work as being about the ‘reflection of childhood memories, while ’Jungle describes his work as ‘bringing to life visions from a timeline’.

The exhibition runs until September 7.
