The frosty finale sees Sheffield Arena transformed into Arendelle, trapped in an eternal winter by snow queen Elsa’s powers.

The costumed skaters act out a simplified version of the Frozen story and the excitement in the audience was palpable as the characters appeared on the rink with Olaf the snowman stealing the show.

But this year’s Disney on Ice show is about more than just Frozen.

The production is always an extravaganza of colourful costumes, spectacular special effects and impressive skating moves.

With Minnie and Mickey Mouse introducing a selection of popular Disney tales, this is a feast for the eyes and ears.

Toy Story 3 was brought to life on the ice, keeping the same blend of humour, drama and tear-jerking poignancy as the film.

The action then switches to under the sea for the Little Mermaid with Ariel and her fishy friends, while the second half starts with a parade of four-wheeled favourites from the animation Cars.

Disney on Ice successfully brings a bit of Disney magic to Sheffield and is a great way of starting your own festive celebrations.

Disney on Ice – Worlds of Enchantment runs until Sunday, November 22.
