Hosted by the Northern Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Project, the talk will be given by local historian, John Terry, about his grandfather’s exploits in the early years of flight.

Mr Terry will answer any questions from his audience. He is currently writing a biography on his grandfather who became an RAF Major in 1918.

The Northern Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Project was launched in 2012, covering eight airfields in the northern part of Lincolnshire. The project tells the story of these Second World War airfields and the part they played during the war years.

Two years on, the project has continued to develop and is about to hold its third talk on aviation related subjects.

Coun Liz Redfern, leader at North Lincolnshire Council said: “I am delighted that John Terry will be giving a welcome talk as it is a great chance for the community to learn about North Lincolnshire’s local war history.”

The event at Humberside airport will start at 7pm. Tickets for the evening are £7.50 to include tea, coffee and biscuits.

Tickets are available from Brigg Tourist Information Centre (01652 657053) or Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre in Barton (01652 631500). Ticket numbers are limited to 80.

Those who attend the event will also get a glimpse of the Canadian Lancaster which will be visiting the airport for a few days in August. This will however be subject to weather and its availability.
