Festive high notes at South Axholme

Seasonal events organised by pupils and staff at the South Axholme Academy have been praised by Isle residents.

One of these was the annual senior citizens’ community Christmas party (pictured). Over 80 local residents attended the event and were entertained by the school band and expressive arts department who performed a piece of drama called ‘A Big Day Out’. Members of the student council then served guests with a Christmas tea. The afternoon ended with games and a raffle. Vice principal Scott Barlow said: “The event was a great success.”

The Academy’s Christmas concert was also praised. One attendee said: “It was a wonderful evening. There was a range of musical performances including brass, swing and wind bands and also some amazing solo performances, including singers.

“There were some very talented pupils performing and the dedication of both the staff and pupils was plain to see. It was a lovely concert and I feel the hard work and time put in by the pupils and staff really deserves recognition.”
