Christmas festivities light up Lakeside village

Families from around Doncaster gathered to free enjoymulled wine and chestnuts, play amongst the snow in the giant sparkling snow globe and visit Father Christmas and his real reindeer.

Cheryl Sadler, Centre Manger at Lakeside Village, said: “We kicked off our family Christmas events with a real bang. The children loved chatting to Father Christmas and stroking real reindeer, while their parents enjoyed sipping warming mulled wine and eating roast chestnuts. We have a whole host of events every weekend leading up to Christmas so we hope that the people of Doncaster will come along and enjoy our winter wonderland as we celebrate the festive season together.”

The centre, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland, is offering shoppers a magical festive experience throughout December. Children can visit Santa’s grotto for free, meet real reindeer, and even see and learn about real life penguins on.

Starting on December 17 the centre will also offer late night shopping every night, for last minute shoppers and bargain hunters.

The family events at the centre will include:

Saturday 6 December - Christmas fun day, 11-4pm

Guests can stroke real life reindeers and visit the Christmas grotto.

Sunday 7 December – Star Wars event, 11 - 4pm

Families are invited along for some intergalactic action when Star Wars* characters pay a visit to Lakeside Village. They will be able to have their picture taken with the stars as they are transported to another galaxy.

Wednesday 17 December – Late night shopping launch 4-8pm

Shoppers can grab festive bargains ahead of the rush with the arrival of late night shopping every evening from 17 December when the centre will open from 10am - 8pm. With free entertainment including Santas grotto, brass band, and real reindeer.
