A new era for an old Walkley pub

BEER will start flowing again today (Thursday) at the Hallamshire House in Commonside, Walkley, after a six-figure refurbishment.

It is the result of another deal between Enterprise Inns, which has paid for the revamp, and Thornbridge Brewery, which will run the pub.

Thornbridge pub operations manager Mike Pidgeon said: “As with all our pubs we are committed to delivering excellent products and customer service whilst also working to create the best environment that suits the pub and its local community.”

The Hallamshire House will be managed by Becky Stuart and Tom Ashfield who developed their skills at The Greystones, the ground-breaking free-of-tie pub that Thornbridge opened in partnership with Enterprise last November.

The Greystones was recently judged the best turnaround pub in the North East by the licensed trade publication, the Morning Advertiser, although it fell short of taking the national prize.

Tom and Becky said it was “great to be associated with the reopening of such an iconic pub that has had a great past and will definitely have a fantastic future”.
